Guided Through the Quran

Societies that are far from religion have a distorted understanding of it, and their people, while growing up, gather their information about it entirely from unreliable resources. For this reason, under the guise of religion, people adopt different rituals, rules, rights, and wrongs that they feel are suitable for them. However, the main source of accurate knowledge about the true religion is the Qur'an, for it is the sublime Word of Allah, our Lord Who created the universe from nothing and the One Who knows everything.

The Qur'an's plain style makes it comprehensible to all people so that they can benefit from its unique wisdom. Despite this, however, those who are insincere or even hostile toward Allah and His religion approach the Qur'an with prejudice and, influenced by their distorted rationale, misinterpret its verses. Some people, hoping to present religion as something difficult, fabricate many false beliefs, heresies, and myths.

People of faith, who are well-acquainted with the Qur'an, understand that such fabrications are no more than myths and so do not acknowledge them. However, those who do not know Allah and the Qur'an remain under the influence of these myths out of ignorance and so assume that this false religion, which is not based upon the Qur'an, is the true religion. Moreover, they fail to see the beauties presented by Islam, which Allah has chosen and perfected, for they do not read the Qur'an.

Interestingly, the Qur'an, which Allah sent to guide humanity to the true path, never catches the attention of such people. When they ask something about religion, they look everywhere but the Qur'an, although it is the only accurate source that is applicable to all times. The Qur'an expresses this as: "The Messenger says: 'My Lord, my people treat this Qur'an as something to be ignored'"(Surat al-Furqan: 30).

In fact, the Qur'an is the only reliable source of Islam, for it is Allah's unaltered speech, and the Sunna (that which the Prophet Muhammad [saas] established by his sayings, actions, and tacit approval). Allah revealed the Qur'an so that humanity could read and understand it; acquire accurate knowledge of its Lord, Who created the universe from nothing; learn how to worship Him, and how to abide by His commands in order to earn His good pleasure. Allah explained His verses through examples and stories. As He makes clear in: "We have not neglected anything in the Book"(Surat al-An'am: 38), the Qur'an comprises everything. Numerous details pertaining to this world and the next are explained in the most intelligible way, for, as Allah informs us: "We have sent down the Book to you making all things clear and as guidance and mercy and good news for the Muslims"(Surat an-Nahl: 89).

The purpose of this book is to explain that the Qur'an is the Word of Allah, a guide for humanity that addresses everyone, and that its commands are applicable to all times. Thus it must be the most important reference.

An accurate perception of Islam and the correct understanding of its verses are essential for those who seek to be guided by it. In this respect, it is one of the most important duties of every Muslim who has wisdom, a conscience, and common sense to convey its message to all people.

Islam good deeds

You close your eyes and think of the “good” deeds you did in the way of Allah . You gave sadaqah, you gave a ride to someone to the masjid, shared a hadith and saw someone implementing it, helped out someone read the Qur’an today, visited a sick neighbor or called a relative and earned lots of du’aas from them.

And you smile and think, Alhamdulillah, you did something today, insha Allah tomorrow you would do more.

And then a tiny voice says, “But what if in spite of all the good deeds I did, I still don’t please my Rabb?” And we worry; was it accepted or not? Let’s look at some conditions that we can fulfil before doing and after doing the good deeds:

1. Make your intention clear before you do the deed
Ever wondered why the first hadith in Sahih Bukhari is “The reward of deeds depends upon the intentions and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended”? [Bukhari]

It is because the whole criteria of acceptance is “intentions” if we intend to do something for the sake of earning the pleasure of Allaw vis a vis acclaim or the love of some one in the dunya, then that’s all we will get. We should make a firm intention in our hearts and seek refuge from the Shaitan. This also helps us in doing our deeds with excellence, as we are doing it to please Allah and we will then give it our 100% in sha Allah.

2. Seek forgiveness every day
Intentionally or unintentionally, we all commit sin during our life.
And “Allah does not guide the wrongdoers…” [Qur’an: Chapter 3, Verse 86]

So many times, we plan to do something good, but somehow are never able to do it. This inability to perform good deeds even though we intend to do them and are able to do them, is because of sins that we have committed knowingly and unknowingly.

And Allah swt says” “…except for those who repent after that and do righteous deeds. Verily, Allah id Oft-Forgiving and Most Merciful.” [Qur’an: Chapter 3, Verse 89]
So we should take the advice given to us by our beloved Prophet as he said:
“”Turn you people in repentance in Allah and beg pardon of Him. I turn to Him in repentance a hundred times a day.” [Muslim]

Integrate istighfar (seeking forgiveness) into your daily dhikr (remembrance) of Allah .

3. Make du’aa for your heart
“ .. And know that Allah intervenes between a man and his heart.” [Qur’an: Chapter 8, Verse 24]

Ibn `Abbas commented on this verse saying: “Allah prevents the believer from disbelief and the disbeliever from faith.’ It is reported that the Messenger of Allah said:

“There is no heart that is not between two of the Fingers of the Most Merciful. If He wills, He guides it and if He wills, He sends it astray.” [Ibn Majah]

The Prophet of Allah used to make the following du’aas for the protection and guidance of his heart:

“Ya muqallib al-quloob, thabbit qalbee ‘alaa deenik”
“O You Who changes the hearts, make my heart firm on Your religion.” [Ibn Majah]
Rabbana la tuzigh quloobana ba’da idh hadaytana, wahab lana min ladunka rahmatan innaka anta al Wahhab”
“Our Lord! Let not our hearts deviate now after Thou hast guided us, but grant us mercy from Thine own Presence; for Thou art the Grantor of bounties without measure!” [Qur’an: Chapter 3, Verse 8]

4. Don’t procrastinate
Don’t delay any action. The moment some good thought comes in your mind, just do it and make this du’aa:
“O Allah, I take refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, weakness and laziness, miserliness and cowardice, the burden of debts and from being over powered by men.” [Bukhari]

5. Watch yourself
The moment you start noticing the first twinge of laziness or the first time you “forget” to do that good deed, know it is time for some serious istighfar and start reciting the du’aas for it right then.

6. Work harder
Put in that extra effort to turn your good intentions into action. Keep that charity money in your hand when you walk into the masjid. Put a reminder to call your relative in your cell phone, sleep early to be able to wake up for Fajr. In sha Allah, Allah will acknowledge your efforts and reward you even more and make it easy for you!

7. Don’t give up
No matter how tough it gets, even if that du’aa you are trying to learn might be too hard to memorize, don’t give up. Learn one line at a time. Whatever it takes, don’t give up. Ask Allah for help and don’t give up. Imagine you are on a mountain and there is a raging fire below and work because you know that however difficult it is, you HAVE to climb up to save yourself.

8. Seek refuge from the Shaitan
Seek refuge from the Shaitan whenever you feel the energy slipping. Recite surah Naas, surah Falaq and surah Ikhlaas in the mornings followed by the Prophetic morning du’aas. These are the essential vitamins that our hearts need to function properly throughout the day.

9. Thank Allah
When you feel the energy back in your heart, when getting up for Fajr, when memorizing the du’aa and when giving charity starts to seem easy after all: thank Allah for accepting your du’aa and thank Him a lot as Allah says,” O you who believe !! Eat of the good things that We have provided for you, and be grateful to Allah , if it is Him you worship” [Qur'an: Chapter 2, Verse 172]
May Allah guide us to see our mistakes and seek forgiveness for them, and may He make our hearts firm in His obedience, Aameen!

How Islam Can Make You Happy

The Prophet (salah allauh ‘alayhi wa salam) said: “If your good deeds make you happy and your bad deeds make you sad, then you are abeliever.” [Sahih, Ahmad and Ibn Majah]

Allah says, Say, “In the bounty of Allah and in His mercy – in that let them rejoice; it is better than what they accumulate.” [10:58]

Maintaining a state of happiness is essential for Dian, who has been suffering from lupus for the past 10 years. ‘The spiritual healing through salat, dzikir and helping others whenever I can helps me to maintain a state of balance, hence, it helps to keep my lupus under control,’ says the vibrant 44-year-old woman. Another such powerhouse is Alma, a career woman and mother of three, one of whom suffers from autism and requires extra care and attention. ‘If it is not for my faith in Allah and the assurance that Allah will not burden me with more than I can handle, it is quite impossible for me to have this peace of mind with which I go through life’, she explains.

Yanti, a rising professional in her field, also attributes her ability to possess a high spirit every day to the practice of salat, caring for others and her faith in Allah. This is despite the fact that she has suffered through two bitter separations, one of them due to domestic violence. ‘It is the night-time prayer that is really my time for contemplation. The quiet time between me and Allah, as I stand and pray, is both energising and comforting for me. Caring for the less fortunate also keeps me grounded and grateful for what I have,’ Yanti says. What these ladies are experiencing is not too surprising, since Islam is all about both physical and mental wellbeing. The welfare and happiness of the soul is essential for the maintenance of a healthy body, and vice-versa. Faith and patience — trained through prayers, dzikir and compassion towards others — have proven to be the guardians of the soul in going through life, whether in happiness or sadness. The sense of balance that comes with the practice of connecting with Allah through salat and other forms of prayer, as well as connecting with others through silaturahim, zakat and acts of kindness, provides a Muslimah with a complete package towards happiness.

Each of us has to go through our own sets of trials and tribulations, be they illnesses, broken hearts, financial difficulties or the loss of loved ones. When dealing with problems, it is essential that we learn how to maintain the balance between what we feel and what is logical. Being carried away, looking for quick fixes or wallowing in prolonged sadness will not do justice to our mind and body. Very often, we find that when our mind is disturbed and that stress is present, the body will follow suit with symptoms ranging from the very mild, such as the temporary loss of appetite, to the severe, such as chronic migraines and insomnia.

Finding time to get away for even three hours a week is sometimes impossible for many women — just ask any woman with small children or a busy career. They run around from one place to the next without stopping. Salat, which is done five times daily, provides such women with some exclusive time with the Almighty. With salat, that ‘me’ time that many women are struggling to achieve is present in small doses throughout the day.

Salat helps us achieve a balanced state of wellbeing because it gives us an opportunity to ‘step away’ from the world. It is the perfect getaway from all our troubles and worries. It is also the perfect medium through which we can give thanks when everything is going well. Salat requires a high concentration of the mind and is conducted using slow and repetitive movements that accompany the prayers. Performed in complete surrender to Allah, salat is conducive towards a quiet and calm state of mind.

Standing up to pray alone is not the complete recipe for happiness, however, when it is not accompanied with continual good deeds. Compassion and humanity can heal our pain in profound ways because making others happy can increase the levels of serotonin produced by our brain, which in turn has a positive effect on our mood. People who do good and feel well are also less prone to illnesses and accidents. And the best part? All of these come together to bring us closer to the blessings of the Almighty.

Does God Exist ?

Creed of Islam. Aqidah. Pillars of Iman. Tauhid. Eman. Tawhid. Touheed. Thowheed
05. Proofs for Existence of God from Quran
How do we know there’s a Rabb? Thousands of theories and maxims revolve around this. But, Quran mentions only a few verses on this. But, Quranic evidences are powerful but simple to understand, unlike the complicated/intricate philosophies

#1: The fact that there’s a creation indicate there’s a creator. Every object must have been made, created, developed by something. Where did you come from?

(Quran Surah 52. Ath Thuur ayat 35)

Were they created by nothing, or were they themselves the creators?

(Quran Surah 31. Luqman ayat 11)

This is the creation of Allâh. So show me that which those (whom you worship), besides Him have created…

(Quran Surah 22. Al Hajj ayat 73)

O mankind! A similitude has been coined, so listen to it (carefully): Verily! those on whom You call besides Allâh, cannot create (even) a fly, even though they combine together for the purpose. And if the fly snatched away a thing from them, they would have no power to release it from the fly. So weak are (both) the seeker and the sought

(Quran Surah 67. Al Mulk ayat 2-3) –> Try to find a slight flaw in the heavens

2. Who has created death and life, that He may test you which of you is best In deed. And He is the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving;

3. Who has created the seven heavens one above another, you can see no fault in the creations of the Most Beneficent. Then look again: “Can you see any rifts?”

#2: Signs of creation. Certain aspects / creations are more majestic or more powerful. You feel small compared to them

(Quran Surah 2. Al Baqarah ayat 164)

Verily! In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and In the alternation of night and day, and the ships which sail through the sea with that which is of use to mankind, and the water (rain) which Allâh sends down from the sky and makes the earth alive therewith after its death, and the moving (living) creatures of All kinds that He has scattered therein, and In the veering of winds and clouds which are held between the sky and the earth, are indeed Ayât (proofs, evidences, signs, etc.) for people of understanding

#3: Innate human nature. Everybody, deep inside, knows stealing is bad, be good to parents, and there’s a God. Prophet was on Fitraa until he became a prophet @ age 40

(Quran Surah 7. Al A’raaf ayat 172)

And (remember) when Your Lord brought forth from the Children of Adam, from their loins, their seed (or from Adam’s loin his offspring) and made them testify as to themselves (saying): “Am I not Your Lord?” they said: “Yes! We testify,” lest you should Say on the Day of Resurrection: “Verily, we have been unaware of this.”

Even atheist cry out God in dire situations

(Quran Surah 10. Yunus ayat 12)

And when harm touches man, He invokes us, lying down on his side, or sitting or standing. but when we have removed his harm from him, he passes on his Way as if He had never invoked us for a harm that touched him!…

#4: Prophets came with perfect books and miracles from God. Try to create a chapter like that in Quran

They all ask for God's mercy

They all ask for God's mercy

Muslims are one. Their geographical differences are for their identity. In Islam our borders are open to each other. We live on the land of Allah. We are one Umma with different languages and race. No matter who we are, we recognize Allah as our means of sustenance on earth as Arafa means recognition of this fact.

Arafat is the name of the desert and day of Arafa is the ninth day of the month of Zul-Hajja, the day that everyone meets at this desert only to see each other, to live together a day to recognize each other as Arafa means to know - to be acquainted with Allah in being with each other. It is the place of every Muslim in the simple clothing of two pieces of white material. We know each other with the name of "Hajj" or one who is intending, not by title or rank. It is the land of equality, no boundary but different nations. No restriction of moving from one part to another. All the nations are brothers and are together in this vast desert. In the end of the day of Arafa, we all move to the valley of Muzdalifa or Mash'ar (awareness). If in the vast desert of Arafat we were separated and each group and nationality were by themselves, the valley of Mash'ar brings everyone together because we are in Mash'ar (awareness) . The night of Mash'ar is to pick up war materials (stones) so you can attack at dawn. We stay behind the boundary of Mina and pick up small stones or pebbles for each battle with Satan. You will need 7 stones for at least seven attacks on each evil or a total of 49 stones.

Hajj gives us a lesson of unity and togetherness and confrontation against evils and those who are against the unity of mankind. We can be united if we come together in Arafat (recognition) and reject evils in Mina and follow the law of Allah in Mecca as the rejection of any Deity is required to achieve Allah's will.
The reality we see is that Muslims are one "Ummah" and one nation with different languages and cultures and from different races and boundaries. In this desert, Muslims are neighbors to each other and spend a full day together as the World of Islam is one. We are not divided and the line of Allah is extended to hold firm on it and be not divided. The "Dzikr" and the words prayer chanted by different groups of races makes you of them. They may not speak your language but it shows and express clearly that the Quran is our constitution and the tradition of our beloved Prophet is our way of life.
