If allah loves aperson

You have asked about a serious and weighty matter, which none attain but very few of the righteous slaves of Allah.

The love of Allah is "the status for which the righteous compete and strive, It is the nourishment of hearts and souls, the delight of the eyes, It is the life of which one who is denied it is dead, the light which the one who loses it is in deep darkness, the healing of which the one who is denied is sick, the joy which the one who is deprived of it lives in distress and pain.

It is the spirit of faith and good deeds, by means of which one may draw closer to Allah, which, when it is absent, one is like a body in which there is no soul."

O Allah, make us among those whom You love.

The love of Allah has signs and causes which are like the key to the door. These causes include the following:

1. Following the guidance of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Allah says in His Holy Book:

{قُلْ إِن كُنتُمْ تُحِبُّونَ ٱللَّهَ فَٱتَّبِعُونِى يُحْبِبْكُمُ ٱللَّهُ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌۭ رَّحِيمٌۭ}

'Translation' {Say (O Muhammad to mankind): If you (really) love Allah, then follow me (i.e. accept Islamic Monotheism, follow the Qur’aan and the Sunnah/prophetic teachings), Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful} [Aal 'Imraan:31].

2. Being humble towards the believers and stern towards the kaafirs (disbelievers), waging jihad (a battle/struggle) for the sake of Allah, and not fearing anyone or anything but Him. Allah has mentioned these qualities in a single verse, in which He says:

{يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مَن يَرْتَدَّ مِنكُمْ عَن دِينِهِۦ فَسَوْفَ يَأْتِى ٱللَّهُ بِقَوْمٍۢ يُحِبُّهُمْ وَيُحِبُّونَهُۥٓ أَذِلَّةٍ عَلَى ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ أَعِزَّةٍ عَلَى ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ يُجَـٰهِدُونَ فِى سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ وَلَا يَخَافُونَ لَوْمَةَ لَآئِمٍۢ}

'Translation' {O you who believe! Whoever from among you turns back from his religion (Islam), Allah will bring a people whom He will love and they will love Him; humble towards the believers, stern towards the disbelievers, fighting/striving in the way of Allah, and never fear of the blame of the blamers} [al-Maa'idah:54].

In this verse Allah describes the attributes of those whom He loves, the first of which is: humility and not being arrogant towards the Muslims, and being stern towards the kaafirs (disbelievers), and not humbling or humiliating oneself before them. They (the ones whom Allah loves) strive for the sake of Allah, against the Shaytaan, the kuffaar (disbelievers), the hypocrites and the evil doers, and they strive against their own selves (jihad al-nafs). They do not fear the blame of any blamer, because so long as they are following the commands of their religion, he will not care about anyone who mocks him or blames him.

3. Doing naafil (supererogatory) acts of worship. Allah says -according to a hadith qudsi (divinely inspired saying of the Prophet)- «My slave keeps drawing near to me by means of supererogatory acts of worship until I love Him». Supererogatory acts of worship include naafil prayers, charity, 'Umrah, Hajj (minor and major pilgrimage to Makkah) and fasting.

4. Loving, visiting one another, helping one another (financially) and offering sincere advice to one another for the sake of Allah.

These attributes were mentioned in a single hadith (narration) in which the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) narrated that his Lord said: «My love is guaranteed for two who love one another for My sake; My love is guaranteed for two who visit one another for My sake; My love is guaranteed for two who help one another (financially) for My sake; My love is guaranteed to for two who uphold ties with one another for My sake» (Narrated by Ahmad [4/236] and [5/236], al-Tanaasuh by Ibn Hibbaan [3/338]; the two ahaadith were classed as saheeh by Shaykh al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Targheeb wa'l-Tarheeb [3019], [3020], [3021]).

What is meant by «two who visit one another for My sake» is that they only visit one another for the sake of Allah, seeking thereby His pleasure for their loving one another for His sake or cooperating in worshipping Him (From al-Muntaqa Sharh al-Muwatta', hadith [1779]).

5. Being tested. Calamities and disasters are a test for a person, and this is a sign that Allah loves him, because this is like medicine: even though it is bitter, but still you offer the medicine, despite its bitterness, to the one whom you love; and Allah's is the highest description. According to a saheeh hadith (authentic narration): «The greatest reward comes from the greatest trial. When Allah loves people, He tests them, and whoever accepts it gains the pleasure of Allah and whoever complains earns His wrath» (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi [2396];and Ibn Maajah [4031]; classed as saheeh by Shaykh al-Albaani).

For calamities to befall the believer is better than punishments being stored up for him in the Hereafter. How can it be otherwise when he is raised in status and his bad deeds are erased thereby? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: «When Allah wills good for His slave, He hastens his punishment in this world, and when He wills bad for His slave, He withholds his sins until he comes with them on the Day of Resurrection» (Narrated by al-Tirmidhi [2396]; classed as saheeh by al-Albaani).

The scholars have explained that the one from whom calamities and trials are withheld is the hypocrite, for Allah withholds [his punishment] in this world, so as to bring him with all his sins on the Day of Resurrection.

O Allah, make us among those whom You love.

If Allah loves you, do not ask about the good that you will attain and the virtue that you will acquire, it is sufficient for you to know that you are the beloved of Allah. The great fruits of the love of Allah for His slave are as follows:

1. People will love him and he will be accepted on earth, as it says in the hadith narrated by al-Bukhaari [3209]: «When Allah loves a slave, He says to Jibreel, "I love so-and-so, so love him", so Jibreel loves him and then calls out to the people of heaven, "Allah loves so-and-so, so love him", and the people of heaven love him, and then acceptance is placed in the Earth for him».

2. What Allah has mentioned in the hadith qudsi of the great virtues of those whom He loves. It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: «Whosoever shows enmity to someone devoted to Me, I shall be at war with him. My servant draws not near to Me with anything more loved by Me than the religious duties I have enjoined upon him, and My servant continues to draw near to Me with supererogatory works so that I shall love him. When I love him I am his hearing with which he hears, his seeing with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes and his foot with which he walks. Were he to ask [something] of Me, I would surely give it to him, and were he to ask Me for refuge, I would surely grant him it. I do not hesitate about anything as much as I hesitate about [seizing] the soul of My faithful servant: he hates death and I hate hurting him» (Narrated by al-Bukhaari [6502]).

This hadith qudsi includes a number of benefits of Allah's love for His slave:

i. «I am his hearing with which he hears» i.e., he does not listen to anything but that which Allah loves.

ii. «his seeing with which he sees» i.e., he does not see anything but that which Allah loves.

iii. «his hand with which he strikes» i.e., he does not do anything with his hand but that which Allah loves.

iv. «and his foot with which he walks» i.e., he does not go towards anything but that which Allah loves.

v. «Were he to ask [something] of Me, I would surely give it to him» i.e., his du'aa's (supplications) are heard and his requests are granted.

vi. «and were he to ask Me for refuge, I would surely grant him it» i.e., he is protected by Allah from all things.

We ask Allah to help us to please Him.

And Allah knows best.

Therefore patiently persevere, as did (all) messengers

Therefore patiently persevere, as did (all) messengers of inflexible purpose; and be in no haste about the (Unbelievers). On the Day that they see the (Punishment) promised them, (it will be) as if they had not tarried more than an hour in a single day. (Thine but) to proclaim the Message: but shall any be destroyed except those who transgress?

وَإِن تَصْبِرُوا وَتَتَّقُوا فَإِنَّ ذَٰلِكَ مِنْ عَزْمِ الْأُمُورِ
But if ye persevere patiently, and guard against evil,-then that will be a determining factor in all affairs.

What do Muslims believe about Allah!

Islam is the complete submission and obedience to Allah (God). The name Allah (God) in Islam never refers to Muhammad (peace be upon him), as many Christians may think; Allah is the personal name of God.

What do Muslims believe about Allah?

1. He is the one God, Who has no partner.

2. Nothing is like Him. He is the Creator, not created, nor a part of His creation.

3. He is All-Powerful, absolutely Just.

4. There is no other entity in the entire universe worthy of worship besides Him.

5. He is First, Last, and Everlasting; He was when nothing was, and will be when nothing else remains.

6. He is the All-Knowing, and All-Merciful,the Supreme, the Sovereign.

7. It is only He Who is capable of granting life to anything.

8. He sent His Messengers (peace be upon them) to guide all of mankind.

9. He sent Muhammad (peace be upon him) as the last Prophet and Messenger for all mankind.

10. His book is the Holy Qur'an, the only authentic revealed book in the world that has been kept without change.

11. Allah knows what is in our hearts.

These are some of the basic guidelines Muslims follow in their knowledge of God:

1. Eliminate any anthropomorphism (human qualities) from their conception of Allah. His attributes are not like human attributes, despite similar labels or appellations.

2. Have unwavering faith in exactly what Allah and Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) described Allah to be, no more, no less.

3. Eradicate any hope or desire of learning or knowing the modality of His names and attributes.

4. Believe totally in all the names and attributes of Allah; one cannot believe in some and disbelieve the others.

5. One cannot accept the names of Allah without their associated attributes, i.e. one cannot say He is Al-Hayy - 'The Living' and then say that He is without life.

6. Similarity in names (or meanings) does not imply similarity in what is being described (referents). As a robotics arm differs from a human arm, so the "hand" of Allah is nothing like a human hand, His speech is nothing like human speech, etc.

7. Certain words are ambiguous or vague in their meanings, and thus may be susceptible to misinterpretation. Only those meanings that are in accordance with what is specified by Allah and His Prophet (peace be upon him) are acceptable.

Who is Allah? The way to know

There are various ways through which man can familiarize himself with the surroundings, beings, natural and unnatural phenomena. Each one of these has certain way to realize it.

For example, when one wants to acquaint himself with a person he does not know, one may get closer to that person, show love and respect. There is even a formula of respect and reverence used by different languages to show respect in addressing people or one can introduce himself to that person either directly or indirectly and so on and so forth. However, the best way to know someone is to listen to him talking and it is the perfect method when it comes to knowing Allah.

· Who is Allah?

Allah the Almighty Himself answers this question in His saying,
Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great. [Al-Baqarah: 255]

Allah Almighty introduces Himself in the above mentioned verse as follows:

- Allah - there is no deity except Him (Allahu la IIah Ila Howa): Allah informs us that He is the One true god who deserves to be worshiped by all His creatures.

- Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence (Al-Hay Al-Qayum): Allah is the Ever-Living, He is eternal while all his creatures are mortal. He is the Sustainer of all that exist who are in need of His help and support.

- Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep (La ta'khuzhu sinatun wa la naoum): it means that Allah is above imperfection, inattention or distraction. He is the Ever-watchful over everything and everyone and nothing can escape His knowledge. Allah is Perfect and Eternal He is never overtaken by drowsiness which is light sleep or even sleep.

- To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth (Lahu ma fi as-samawati wa ma fi al-ard): it informs that all beings are His servants and all of them are under His Might and Dominance.

- Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? (man tha allathi yashfa'u 'indahu illa bi ithnih): this verse shows Allah's greatness, Majesty and Gloriousness where none can intercede with Him without His permission.

- He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them (Ya'lam ma bayn aydihim wa ma khalfahum): it shows that Allah's knowledge encompasses everything.

- and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills (wa la yuhitun bi shay'in min ilmihi illa bima sha'): it means that none can know anything except for that which Allah the Almighty taught and revealed to him.

- His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth (wa si'a kursiuhu as-samawt wa al-ard): it means that His dominance and throne encompasses everything.

- and their preservation tires Him not (wa la ya'uduhu hifzuhuma): it means that nothing in the heavens or earth or in between can over burden or bother Allah Who protects them all. Rather, it is so easy for Him since He is the Sustainer for all, the ever-Watchful, nothing in the world that exist escapes His knowledge, all things stand in humiliation and need before Him and He is Free of need, the Praiseworthy, He des what He wills and He is not questioned about what He does, but they will be questioned. He is the Omnipotent, The Suffienct, ever-Watchful, The Exalted, the Greatest and there is no god deserves worship except Him.

- And He is the Most High, the Most Great (wa howa al-'Ali al-'Azeem): Allah is High above everything He is the Greatest.

This is the first thing we can introduce to our readers who wants to know Allah. We do not need to bring you evidence on His existence, praise Him in poems or anything about Him since Allah Almighty and the Greatest introduced Himself in His noble verse.

This verse is named "the verse of the Throne "Ayat al-Kursi" is the greatest verse of the noble Qur'an. One should ponder it, listen to Allah talking about Himself and try to go deeper in knowing
Him.

A Journey Searching for God

In our previous article we hear God Almighty introducing himself with these wonderful words of Ayat Al Kursi – Verse of the Throne… We said that, to get to know something, man can follow more than one way. On the journey to know God, we also can take more than one way, and the way this time, is: The journey of discovery, by a person who felt that behind all creation, it should be present a Creator, a God that deserves to be worshipped. This man is Abraham/Ibrahim علية السلام, a Prophet of Allâh, and the father of the prophets.

Abraham , started meditating on the creation of Allâh - Who he still did not know - but he realized His Power and Creativity. He began his journey searching for God, and this is his story as it was narrated by the Holy Qur'an:

. Thus did we show Ibrâhîm (Abraham) the kingdom of the heavens and the earth for him to be one of those who know (have Faith) with certainty

. When the night covered him over with darkness he saw a star. He said: "This is my lord." But when it set, he said: "I like not those that set."

. When he saw the moon rising up, he said: "This is my lord." But when it set, he said: "Unless my Lord guides me, I shall surely be among the people who went astray."

. When he saw the sun rising up, he said: "This is my lord. This is greater." But when it set, he said: "O my people! I am indeed free from all that you join as partners (in worship, with Allâh).

. Verily, I have turned my face towards Him Who has created the heavens and the earth, as Hanîfa (Islâmic Monotheism, i.e. worshipping none but Al-lâh Alone), and I am not of Al-Mushrikûn (the ones that associates partners with Allâh, in worship)".

. His people disputed with him. He said: "Do you dispute with me concerning Allâh while He has guided me? I fear not those whom you associate with Him (Allâh) in worship. (Nothing can happen to me) except when my Lord (Allâh) wills something. My Lord comprehends in His Knowledge all things. Will you not then remember?Holy Qur'an, Sura Al- Anaam (the Herds): 75-80.

Therefore, Abraham understood that there is a mighty that has created everything, even the heavens and the Earth, and he felt that these gods worshipped by his people do not protected them from hunger or poverty, and they were far from creating anything, and then it turned out they could not even defend themselves!

Abraham took upon himself the task of seeking the Lord. First, he began looking to the sky and saw a big star, he said: 'this is my Lord', but the star set and disappeared with the falling of the night. Abraham was surprised, how do we take a God which goes away with the falling of the night? … Abraham continued his research until he saw the Moon in the sky, he thought that it was the God he was looking for, but neither the moon lived longer than the star, as it was also gone with the dawn.

When the Prophet Abraham علية السلامsaw the Sun, his hope grew, he thought, 'this must be the God I was looking for, this is bigger!' …but not everything that we hope comes true, when the Sun set at the end of the day, the hope of Abraham also dispelled. He suffered frustration and despair, until that God that he was looking for guided him to the true faith, and sent his revelation to inform him that God had chosen him to be the warner of his people and a Prophet.

This is the God whom Abraham was looking for; it was not the Sun, the Moon, or the idols worshiped by his people, but Allâh, the One God, the Creator of heaven and Earth.

This journey searching for Allâh, was not the only one, there are other trips made by other persons looking for Allâh, but thousands of years after the death of Abraham عليه السلام... a journey that we are going to know in our next article.

Knowing Allah through His creations

The best thing through which one can know Allah is through His creations that He perfectly brought to existence and all the bounties He bestowed upon mankind—believing and unbelieving.

The noble Qur'an is the most evident witness on the greatness and will of Allah since it includes the news of all creations and unveils the facts that humans ignore.

Here, we will point out some of the miracles mentioned in the noble Qur'an that strongly prove the existence of Allah and His eternal encompassing knowledge:

- Scientists had many trials to discover the real components of iron since they discovered that the energy relating its molecules equals four times of that which exists in our solar system. Scientists wondered upon knowing this fact; however, scholars of Islam were familiar with it since they studied the saying of Allah:

And We sent down iron, wherein is great military might and benefits for the people, and so that Allah may make evident those who support Him and His messengers unseen. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and Exalted in Might. [Al-Hadeed: 25].

Thereupon, they knew through the word "we sent down" that iron was not among the minerals found on earth, rather it was sent down from heaven. The mineralogists in the modern time asserted that iron does not have the same properties of other minerals exist on earth.

- Exploring the deep seas, marine geologists discovered that all the details pertaining to the descriptions of the seas are stated in the Qur'anic verse in which Allah Almighty says:

Or [they are] like darknesses within an unfathomable sea which is covered by waves, upon which are waves, over which are clouds - darknesses, some of them upon others. When one puts out his hand [therein], he can hardly see it. And he to whom Allah has not granted light - for him there is no light. [Al-Noor: 40].

This is Allah!!

If you still do not know Him,

- Ponder over His signs and creations;

- Think of the heavens and how they are erected;

- How He stretched the earth beneath your feet;

- Think who controls your breath in ever inhale and exhale.

- He is Allah the One and the Ever-Sustainer.

Give a Heart to ALLAH

"When you go closer to Islam, it's natural for you to become alone. People won't be there as much as there were, and you'll have a hard time connecting with anyone on any sort of level. But, ALLAH does this give you strength, to enrich you with independence from imperfection and to rely only on Him."

Subhanallah...just by reading the above statement is already comforting for me :')

Indeed, ALLAH is always with us...Alhamdulillah..

Allah is Near to you

Allah is Near to Whoever Supplicates Him and the Necessary Means for Having Du'aa [supplication] Answered

Allah Almighty says in the Qur'an:
"And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad) concerning Me, then (answer them), I am indeed Near (to them by My Knowledge). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor). So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright" [Qur'an 2:186].

The above verse was revealed as an answer to a question addressed to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) by some of his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). They asked him: "Oh Messenger of Allah! Is our Lord near to us, so we can secretly talk to Him [munaja], or He is far, so we should call upon Him [loudly]?" Thereupon Allah Almighty revealed this verse: "And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad) concerning Me, then (answer them), I am indeed near (to them by My Knowledge) "

This is because Allah is The Watcher, The Witness Who knows what is in the hearts [the secret] and that which is more hidden; He knows the treacherous (look) of the eyes and whatever the hearts conceals. Allah is Near to whoever supplicates him and immediately responds as He says "I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me".

There are two types of Du'aa:
- Du'aa made while worshiping Allah.
- Du'aa made at time of affliction and need.

Moreover, Allah is Near to His servants through the following two manners:

- His knowledge encompasses all His creatures.
- He is near to those who worship and supplicate him and responds to their supplications by answering and granting them support and success.

When a person sincerely invokes Allah asking for lawful things and there is nothing preventing answering his Du'aa such as having unlawful source of livelihood and the like, Allah has verily promised to respond to his Du'aa.

This is especially when a supplicant adheres to the means necessary for answering the Du'aa which are as follows:

- Obeying the commands of Allah.
- Abandoning His Prohibitions.
- The certainty that He responds to our supplications.

That's why Allah says in the above verse: "So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright". Meaning, whoever sincerely supplicates Allah will surely be led to faith, the straight path and be distant from delusion.

There are many texts in the Qur'an and Sunna urging Muslims to make Du'aa and confirming Allah's promise to respond.
Evidence from the Qur'an

Allah Almighty says:
"And your Lord said: "Invoke Me, [i.e. believe in My Oneness (Islâmic Monotheism)] (and ask Me for anything) I will respond to your (invocation). Verily! Those who scorn My worship [i.e. do not invoke Me, and do not believe in My Oneness, (Islâmic Monotheism)] they will surely enter Hell in humiliation!" [Qur'an 40:60].

"Invoke your Lord with humility and in secret. He likes not the aggressors" [Qur'an 7:55].
"Is not He (better than your gods) Who responds to the distressed one, when he calls Him, and Who removes the evil" [Qur'an 27: 60].

Evidence from Sunnah

Abu Sa'eed (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Any Muslim who invokes Allah Almighty with no sin or severing the ties of kinship, Allah will answer by giving him one of three: either to immediately answer his Du'aa in this world; or saves it for him in the Hereafter (as a good deed and reward); or protects him and takes away an evil that was

'For You is Your Religion, and For Me is My Religion'

one finds that it was not revealed to preach religious tolerance as some people of today seem to think, but it was revealed in order to exonerate the Muslims from the disbelievers religion, their rites of worship, and their gods, and to express their total disgust and unconcern with them and to tell them that Islam and kufr (unbelief) had nothing in common and there was no possibility of their being combined and mixed into one entity. Although it was addressed in the beginning to the disbelieving Quraish in response to their proposals of compromise, yet it is not confined to them only, but having made it a part of the Quran, Allah gave the Muslims the eternal teaching that they should exonerate themselves by word and deed from the creed of kufr wherever and in whatever form it be, and should declare without any reservation that they cannot make any compromise with the disbelievers in the matter of Faith. That is why this Surah continued to be recited when the people to whom it was addressed as a rejoinder, had died and been forgotten, and those Muslims also continued to recite it who were disbelievers at the time it was revealed, and the Muslims still recite it centuries after they have passed away, for expression of disgust with and dissociation from kufr and its rites is a perpetual demand of Faith.
As for the esteem in which the Holy Prophet (upon whom be peace) held this Surah, it can be judged from the following few
