you ain’t no Muslim bruv

HE shouted “you ain’t no Muslim bruv” during a horrific terror attack at a London tube station.

But the man, known only as John, said he wanted to make a statement in defence of Muslims, who some people associated with Islamic State and terrorism.

He also fears retribution from ISIS militants over his stand against terror, which saw him become a viral sensation. The 39-year-old Londoner, who is not a Muslim himself, said he spoke out at the scene of the stabbing because he was sick of people linking Islam with the terror group.

In an interview with The Sunday Times, John said Islamic State were pure evil who should not call themselves religious. “ISIS should be wiped out, because they’re not Muslims, because Muslims don’t do that,” he said.

“It’s as simple as that. For people to be like that, they’ve obviously got stone hearts, they don’t care about society. They don’t care about anyone. They’re evil, pure evil.”

John, who works as a security guard, revealed that while he fears a backlash, he does not believe those who associated themselves with the terror group are truly religious.

John made headlines around the world when his words were heard in footage that was shared on social media in the aftermath of last week’s attack. In the video, a man armed with a knife can be heard yelling “this is for mother Syria”, “all of your blood will be spilled” and “go on then, run, run” as he stabs one commuter before slashing at two others.

The 29-year-old attacker can also be heard threatening other passengers while a wounded man lies at his feet.

But as police rushed to arrest the man, John can be heard shouting “You ain’t no Muslim bruv” before the attacker is tasered and pinned to the ground. The hashtag #YouAintNoMuslimBruv soon started trending on Twitter.

Even Prime Minister David Cameron embraced it as a slogan.

“Some of us have dedicated speeches and media appearances and sound bites and everything to this subject,” Mr Cameron said.

“But ‘You ain’t no Muslim, bruv’ said it all much better than I ever could. And thank you, because that will be applauded around the country.”
